Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd. (GAIG) was founded on June 8th, 2000. It is authorized by Guangzhou Municipal Government to operate state-owned assets. Benefited from the sustainable and fast development of Chinese automotive industry, GAIG has been greatly improved in production scale, integrated strength and core competitiveness. In 2007, GAIG realized a sales volume of 510,000 vehicles and 890,000 motorcycles with a sales income of 108.8 billion RMB and a tax and profit of 21.9 billion RMB, Thus, GAIG has become the 4th large-scale enterprise group in China that has exceeded 100 billion RMB both in gross industrial output value and sales income simply after “FAW”, “Dongfeng” and “SAIC”. In 2008, GAIG ranked 40th in “China Top 500 Enterprises”.

    Through the invested subsidiaries, GAIG has established three modern automotive production bases and a batch of component manufacturing companies and service trade companies which are of high standard, professional and systematically administrated by cooperating with the world-noted companies, and has primarily formed 6 sectors, that is, passenger vehicle, commercial vehicle, motorcycle, component, service and trade, and R&D, concering business of automotive manufacturing, component manufacturing,  R&D, service and trade.

    While expanding actively on joint ventures, GAIG is also devoted to self-reliant R&D and own-brand business. It is estimated that by 2010, GAIG will launch its own-brand passenger vehicle into the market.
